The Way Station
Once the Elk Mountain House, this building was built in 1880.  The Elk Mountain House was known as Western Colorado's most luxurious hotel, until the completion of the La Veta Hotel in Gunnison in 1884.

Fire claimed the upper two floors in a fire in 1927, then the building became the Gunnison County Shop for Crested Butte in the 1960's.  Later on, it was turned into a restaurant known as the "Way Station", then "Donita's", which it is currently being used in the first floor of the building.

The tin ceiling is from the from the original hotel ceiling.
