St. Peter's Catholic Church
   The first Catholic Church was built on Virginia Avenue.
   A second church was built in 1908.
1957 - Steeple removed due to a leak.
            Removal done by Mountain
           Construction Co of Gunnison.
   The second church on Virginia Avenue, located on the west side of the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad's track of the Crested Butte Branch. Father Luke Harney felt this location was "Located on the wrong side of the tracks", so the church was then moved to the 138 W Georgia location. 
   A second church was then sold to Harry Ender, who moved the structure to Taylor Street as a dwelling.
The 3rd and current church was then constructed in 1927 on this location by J.H. Abel of Denver, CO.
Construction of the church cost $25,000.00 and was paid off in 1945.
